Cynthia Anne Hunter (1928 – 2017)


Cynthia was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on November 16, 1928. Cynthia passed away on March 16, 2017 in Kelowna, British Columbia. A graduate of Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, she studied photography in both Toronto and Switzerland. Her magnetic personality drew people together and to her. This magnetic attribute allowed her to inspire and motivate others to achieve goals important to her community. Along with her commitment to COF, Cynthia was also dedicated to the work of the Central Okanagan Land Trust. As founding member and first president of the Central Okanagan Heritage Society she garnered local and provincial awards for historic restoration projects in Kelowna including Benvoulin Heritage Church, Guisachan House and the Laurel Coop. In recognition of her important community work, she received the Queen's Golden Jubilee medal.
