Hello! We have our Kettle Mettle BIke Ride on October 1st. We rely on volunteers to help out event run smoothly. We have had teams in the past come out and volunteer for us and get a team donation. Here is the link to our Bike Ride, http://www.kettlemettle.ca/. Our Bike Ride starts in Penticton goes to Kelowna. We need volunteers VERY EARLY from 5 am to no later then 9 am to help out with bike set up and registration. You would get $30 per person. We need 12 to 15 volunteers for this. We also need a few volunteers for traffic in Penticton and our first aid/water station. Aid station is 3 volunteers and a few for traffic. The traffic control is for less then one hour but can help in start and bike set up. For first aid/water station this is from 7 am to no later then 10:30 am. Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks, Nicole

Central Okanagan Foundation is pleased to partner with the City of Kelowna to provide Strong Neighborhood Grants. Yesterday, a downtown parking spot was turned into a parklet. A parklet is an extension of public space – typically built in a space otherwise occupied by a parking spot. Rachel Clarida is one of the organizers alongside Christian Brandt of OGO Car Share Co-op, and she says the project is part of an idea to "re-imagine parking." By temporarily installing a parklet, they are kick starting an important conversation about the use of public space and the impacts that vehicle-centric urbanism has on our city.
